What Are You Doin' New Year's Eve?

While everyone else is busy blogging about their New Year's Resolutions (I'm sure I will at some point today), I can't help but be slightly bummed as I have no exciting plans to ring in the new year. If I had my way, I'd go to a fun and fancy little party with a very handsome date. What would I wear? I'm glad you asked :)

This adorable little dress, appropriately named "Cause for Celebration Dress" by ModCloth.

These perfect New Year's Eve shoes by Kurt Geiger.

And this is how I would do my hair, if it were long enough.

Naturally I would top it off with my new red lipstick that I'm so smitten with, perfect for that New Year's kiss.

What are your plans for ringing in the new year?

Another Snow Day Picture

:)

Snow Day!

I'm sure you've all heard about the snow that the East Coast received; and while it delayed many travelers holiday plans, in our household, we were ecstatic! It was such a beautiful ending to a lovely Christmas day, and it made the day after Christmas a little less depressing.

See? Ecstatic.
Our miniature snow woman.

And the best part? The snow has lingered on the ground which makes for a lovely view to wake up to every morning :)

Hope you're having a lovely day!

What a lovely Christmas! The best part was the time I got to spend with my family. I am so very blessed.

P.S. I finally got red lipstick :)

Fred Baby

I just discovered a tumblr devoted entirely to Audrey, complete with photos I've never seen before! How delightful :)

How stylish and adorable is she?

White Christmas

I am currently watching White Christmas for the third time in two days. I may be slightly obsessed with it. Several things keep going through my mind while I watch:
1) It is such a shame that people don't dress like t
hat any more. They have a class and sophistication that is lost in today's society.
2) Every time I see Vera Ellen dance, I wish that I had con
tinued dance lessons. I'm thinking of taking up tap again.
3)
I'm not usually much of a lipstick wearer, but I suddenly feel the need to find the perfect red lipstick.

I found this desk during my last antique excursion a few weeks ago. Isn't it lovely? It makes me want to sit down and write a charming letter to someone special.

Home for the Holidays

Currently, I am sitting in my living room with the Christmas tree lights lit and a cozy cup of coffee. The Closer is on tv and I am surrounded by Christmas cookbooks trying to pick out the most delectable recipes to bake for my family.
I am home.
After a whirlwind week filled with Christmas festivities including a Christmas parade, Christmas shopping, and Roommate Christmas, finals, and packing, I am finally home for the holidays.
And it feels so nice :)

Hope yall have had a delightful week!

Sofia Coppola

I found the first photo in November's issue of Elle. I have to admit, I don't know much about her, but as soon as I saw the picture, I immediately decided to find more. She has such an unconventional beauty about her and I very much like her style.

A Tiffany Blue Christmas: part deux

I just discovered another photo from the Tiffany's holiday ad campaign, along with a photo from an older ad campaign. Each are stunning.

The new pictures for Tiffany's holiday campaign are absolutely stunning. I'll take the snow, the guy, and whatever is in that little blue box of course :)

I believe

Last night, my family and I watched the 1994 version of Miracle on 34th Street. It is definitely one of my favorite Christmas movies. It has such a classic feel to it. The wardrobe, especially that of the little girl's, is so elegant and refined. Every time I watch it I want expensive looking silk, monogrammed pajamas. This movie always puts me in such a Christmas spirit...and it helps that Dylan McDermott is so dreamy :)

Thanksgiving

I simply love Thanksgiving. The coziness of it and the sense of family makes me feel all warm and toasty inside. The last of the relatives just left after an absolute perfect evening of eating, laughing, and enjoying time together. We feasted on grilled turkey by the master chef, my daddy :) I made a green bean casserole, as well as a new dish found in my Everyday Italian cookbook by Giada De Laurentiis called Verdure al Forno. It is absolutely scrumptious! I also helped my sister make a delicious baked mac & cheese. My mom and grandmother made pumpkin pie, chocolate pie, and derby pie. All in all, it was quite a successful meal and I am positively stuffed.

More importantly though, I have so much to be thankful for. I have been thinking lately on the people that make my life what it is and how much I love everything they are to me. I am so incredibly blessed with an amazing family and wonderful friends. I love where I am in life right now. It's been a very interesting year for me, with tons of changes along the way, but there is so much that I have learned and I have grown in so many ways. I wouldn't trade it for a thing.

With that said, I hope you all take the time this evening to think about the people and things in your life that you are grateful for, and I hope you all have had a lovely Thanksgiving!

A Tennessee Stars Hollow

I'm finally home for Thanksgiving! It's so cozy and homey here and I can't wait for all of the scrumptious food that we will feast on tomorrow.

I also finally finished my papers Friday around 12 or 12:30...am. I was so ecstatic about it being over that I literally jumped up and down around my apartment, giggling and feeling positively giddy. The fact that my weekend would be free to do whatever I pleased overjoyed me. So, just as I said I would, I worked on Thanksgiving letters, slept a lot, and attempted to visit a flea market. I say attempted because, after driving 45 minutes to an hour outside of my college town to where my GPS claimed the flea market was located, I found nothing but a WalMart. After driving around several more times to make sure that I had not accidentally missed it, I finally stopped at a CVS to ask. The closest flea market was in Sweetwater, TN...which was 30 minutes away. However, I was told there was an antique mall down the road, "down by the courthouse". Perfect.

What I discovered was the cute little town
of Athens, TN, with a picturesque downtown courthouse, church, coffee house, and several antique shops. It was very Stars Hollow and I was in Heaven. It's one of those small towns where everyone knows each other and I felt like a complete outsider, but it was so much fun that I didn't care.

Here are my finds:

A classic red Thunderbird bike, complete with bow. Add a basket and I'm smitten.

This Saks Fifth Avenue wedding dress.

These are what I bought. A yearbook from 1943 of which the owner was a cute girl with glasses who won most friendly; random pictures of random people dating back to the 1920s; picture-postcards of the cast of Wizard of Oz and Marilyn Monroe; and this beautiful heart shaped locket, complete with the original owner's initials and pictures. I just gave this to my sister for her 20th birthday which is on Saturday.

There are more pictures of my finds, but I will post them later.

Hope you're having a lovely day!

just write

just write

Hello! I hope that there are others out there who are having a far better week than I. I have been holed up in my room all week writing papers. I've just turned one in, but still have yet another to write by tomorrow. However, I have no energy and no motivation to actually write it. I literally just sit and stare at the screen because I have no idea how to even start. I am stressed to the max at this point, but have no strength to even cry about it.

So, in a spirit of optimism (and possibly a bit of procrastination), I have decided to make a list of the things that I would much rather be doing right now than writing this paper. Productive, right?

1. Sleeping! I know one would never expect a college student to say such a thing, but my bed is much too comfy and cozy to ignore.
2. Visiting a flea market. I have such an itch to get out and find something really unique. I very well may have to do some exploring on Saturday...that is, if I'm not still sleeping.
3. Writing letters. How ironic since I'm avoiding writing at the moment. However, for Thanksgiving this year, I've decided to write my close family and friends each a letter to tell them how grateful I am that they are in my life. It's only a week away and I still have some work to do on them!
4. Having a Criminal Minds marathon. It's on my list of things to do over Thanksgiving break. Don't judge.
5. Let's face it, I'd rather be doing anything but writing this paper right now. But enough stalling. Time to get back to work!

Have a lovely day!

rainy day wishlist

Today, I'm pretend shopping at Anthropolgie. Here are my favorites for a rainy day like today.

This Harvest Honey Coat would make such a dreary day a little more cheery.

These darling bowtie boots would add some pep to my step.

A charming hat to keep my head dry.

And finally, Peek-A-Boo Pretty gloves to keep my hands warm and make me smile. :)

something cute for a rainy monday

Quite possibly the most adorable monster I've ever seen.
